Setting up WebEx in my Blackboard Course

Blackboard our campus learning management system, now has Webex integration.  The Webex Blackboard integration gives you the following capabilities in your Blackboard course:

  • Schedule Meetings
  • Start and Join Meetings
  • View Recordings for past meetings
  • Schedule Office Hours
  • Create Teams and spaces
  • Collaborate (Message, Call and File sharing) with students

Steps for Setting up Webex in your Blackboard Course

To activate this feature:

  1. Log in to Blackboard https://nccu.blackboard.com/webapps/login/ and under My Courses select the course you are teaching.

  2. To Create a Menu Link On the top left area of the course menu, mouse over the Add Menu Item icon. plus sign

  3. Click on Tool Link within the drop down menu.

     

  4. Add Webex in the Name box. Click the drop down arrow for Type, scroll to and click WebEx.
     

  5. Click the check box to the left of Available to Users.
     

  6. Click Submit.

Notes:

  • This will add WebEx to your menu at the bottom. Click the menu name WebEx.
  • At this point, the system is setting up your instance and after a short time you will be sent to the main Webex menu in blackboard.
  • The first thing you need to do is activate the features you want to use.

There are three features you can access by checking the box next to their name.

  1.  Classroom Collaboration - This provides access to Webex Teams.

  2.  Virtual Meetings -  This provides access to Webex Meetings.

  3.  Office Hours - This provides you with access to a schedule whereby you can setup office hour meeting duration and how much time in between each you need to prep.

After you have made your selections, press the Apply button on the right side to enable those features.

You will now have the ability to view additional links at the top of the screen, corresponding with the selections you made above.

Notes:

  • If you ever want to change your settings, click WebEx on the left-hand menu.
  • At the top of the page there is a link labeled Setup, select it.
  • You will be directed to the setup page to modify your selections.

If you have any problems or questions about Webex, visit our ticketing system to submit a support ticket.  The steps are below:

  1. Visit https://helpdesk.nccu.edu,
  2. Click on the "Submit Helpdesk Ticket" button
  3. Click on the "Collaboration, Servers & Storage" section
  4. Click on "WebEx" to submit a help ticket for support.
  5. Click on the "Request Service" button.
  6. Enter your information.
