Steps to Secure, Before the Meeting

1. Turn on your waiting room. 

  • Make the waiting room your default account setting, for public meetings.
  • View and admit participants as needed
  • Remove participants and prevent their return.

To enable Waiting Room for individual use:

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal https://nccu-edu.zoom.us 

  2. In the navigation panel, click Settings.

  3. Click the Meeting tab.

  4. Under Security, verify that Waiting Room is enabled                                                                                                                                                           
Note: If the setting is disabled, click the toggle to enable it. If a verification dialog displays, click Turn On to verify the change.

2.  Require a passcode to join.

  • Newly scheduled personal or public meetings.
  • Don’t use and post personal meeting ID for public meetings.

3.  Only Allow Registered and Domain Verified Users.

  • Require attendees to register with their e-mail, name, and custom questions.
  • Restricts participants to those who are logged into Zoom.
  • Restrict it to Zoom users who’s email address uses a certain domain (NCCU).
Note: Your setting should look like the picture below.

Steps to Secure, During the Meeting

1. Master the Security Menu.

Click the Security icon, hosts and co-hosts have an all-in-one place to quickly:

  • Lock the meeting,
  • Enable the Waiting Room (even if it’s not already enabled), and
  • Remove participants.

Restrict participants’ ability to:

  • Share their screens,
  • Chat in a meeting,
  • Rename themselves, and
  • Annotate on the host’s shared content.
