Locating and Launching Global Protect(Already Installed)
Your NCCU computer may already have Global Protect installed as part of the image. Follow the steps below to open and connect to Global Protect when off campus.
1. Locate the Search Icon on the bottom left of the taskbar.
2. Search for “GlobalProtect” and click on the application.
3. The Global Protect window will appear on the right corner of your screen. For first use, the portal address will be blank. Proceed to enter “vpn.nccu.edu”. Then click Connect.
4. A browser window will appear asking for your NCCU username and password. If you are required to authenticate using DUO (multi-factor authentication) to access the VPN, you will be prompted for your second factor.
5. Once authenticated Global Protect will connect you to VPN.
Instructions to Install Global Protect and Connect
1. Navigate to https://vpn.nccu.edu in your web browser.
2. Log in using your NCCU username and account password. If you are required to authenticate using DUO (multi-factor authentication) to access the VPN, you will be prompted for your second factor.
3. Select the appropriate Global Protect version
Note: If you are unsure if it’s 32 or 64-bit Windows, you can check by opening the Settings app from your Windows Start icon and navigating to System > About. |
4. When the file has downloaded, the GlobalProtect installer will run
5. Click Yes on the User Account Control dialog.
6. Once the client has been installed, the Global Protect icon will appear in the notification area in the taskbar at the bottom right of your screen. Click the icon to set up the VPN connection
7. Type vpn.nccu.edu into the Portal Address field and click Connect. Sign in with your NCCU username and password. Each time you log in, you'll receive a prompt to authenticate with Duo multi-factor authentication
(check your phone or other multi-factor authentication devices for notifications)
8. Once you are connected to the VPN, the global protect icon in the menu bar will show a gray shield.
9. You are now fully connected to NCCU VPN
