Computer Repair Technician

Job Description

The intern will be assigned to assist professional staff with providing computer hardware, software and technical support to various departments and computer labs on campus. The intern will be responsible for the following scope of work duties support PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, application software, provide end user support in various levels of technical and non-technical staff, configure operating systems and software for network connectivity, repair computers infected with spyware, adware and/or viruses and other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The student must have awareness of the PC hardware components, desktop operating system software, and application software. The student must have awareness of the PC Industry’s current and emerging technology trends and direction, as well as a keen interest in computer-based information systems and technology. Interested applicants should possess excellent analytic skills and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems. Should have the ability to research and understand technical documentation, and an understanding of how to apply various technical resources. Ability to perform tasks such as providing operating systems and application software installations and upgrades, virus protection and eradication.

Jr. Media Technician

Job Description

The Junior Media Technician will assist in efforts to facilitate A/V production/event needs. The technician will be responsible for support and maintenance of audio/visual equipment by performing the following duties perform preventive and minor equipment maintenance, using available resources, operate projectors, DVD players, laptop computers, video cameras, streaming equipment, and sound recording equipment, verify mediated TEC checks and provide summaries, setup and operate sound equipment to include, but not limited to: speakers, microphones, wireless microphones, mixing boards, video cameras, amplifiers, internet view streaming equipment, and occasionally assistive listening devices, maintain accurate records of completed and pending jobs, be able to work off hours/weekends if required, other duties as required.

 

Qualifications

The technician must be familiar with or willing to learn about sound equipment, mixing boards, and many types of video equipment.  The technician should be reliable and flexible to work as many events as possible throughout the year.  The candidate should possess basic customer service skills. The candidate should be a problem solver who is capable of following written and oral procedures and policies.  The candidate must be a confident self-starter who desires to improve the support provided by the team.

Jr. Network Technician

Job Description

Student Network Technician is a temporary position for student workers.  Student Network Technicians are responsible for providing network connectivity assistance to the NCCU community, including students, faculty, staff and other on-campus constituents.  Under the direction of an ITS network team member, the Student Network Technician will assist in supporting both wired and wireless connections, creating/monitoring network traffic reports and documenting configuration management of network devices. 

 

Qualifications

The student must have basic computer knowledge, and have strong interpersonal and customer service skills. Must be confident in diagnosing and resolving a variety of Windows, MacOS, IOS, and Android connectivity problems. Must be a self-motivated problem solver and have a desire to learn new technologies.

Lab Technician

Job Description

Student Lab Technicians is a temporary position for student workers.  Student Lab Technicians are responsible for providing assistance to NCCU students.  In this position, you serve as the first contact person for students seeking technical help with computer-related issues, such as clearing and correcting printing issues, wireless log-on issues, network log-on issues. Students must also perform basic computer troubleshooting, including course-specific software and printer maintenance.  Student Lab Technicians are responsible for maintaining a clean quiet work area for students, ensuring the lab is stocked with paper, cleaning of computers in labs spaces, and answering basic help desk questions. Student Lab Technicians must be present, visible and available to students, faculty, and staff during the entirety of their scheduled shift.  Student Lab Technicians must monitor to ensure abuse is not occurring in the labs, ensure lab rules are being followed, staying abreast of ITS maintenance, announcements and alternate means to access equipment in case of emergencies and attend all mandatory training sessions offered by ITS Student Services Team.

Student Administrative Support

Job Description

The Student Administrative Support Assistant is responsible for providing general clerical support to the ITS department. Duties include greeting and directing visitors, answering phones, filing, typing documents, routing mail, processing documents, and other duties assigned.

 

Qualifications

Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, PC Keyboarding, Internet and Web-based applications. Must be dependable, organized, have good communication and writing skills. Excellent customer service skills required.

 

Student Web Technician

 Job Description:

The Student Web Services Assistant is responsible for creating and updating NCCU.edu web pages; responding to Web Services Help Desk requests; testing for quality assurance, accessibility, search engine optimization, and security; crafting and uploading graphics; curating database information, and participating in Web Services projects upon request. In addition, all student interns are expected to participate in a student-designed and student-led project, with a final presentation given at the end of each semester.

 

Qualifications:

The student must have a working knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. A highly qualified candidate will have experience with content management systems (Drupal preferred), the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (specifically, Photoshop, Illustrator, Experience Design, Acrobat, and Dreamweaver), API integration, and ColdFusion. All team members are expected to demonstrate strong troubleshooting abilities, good interpersonal communication skills, and a solid work ethic.

Help Desk Technician (ETAC) Student Team Lead

Job Description

The Help Desk Technician Student Team Lead position is responsible for assisting in onboarding and scheduling of employees, making recommendations and giving feedback to enhance the department, ensuring coverage for all shifts, training student employees, communicating updates, alerts and etc. to student employee teams.  Team Leads must also support the campus via the phone as well as those walking up to the help desk.  Additionally, Help Desk Technicians are responsible for assisting with staying abreast of ITS maintenance, announcements and alternate means to access equipment in case of emergencies and attending all mandatory training sessions offered by ITS Student Services Team.
