What's the difference in Microsoft Office 2016 and Microsoft Office 365?

Office 2016 is a version of the Office productivity suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc), typically accessed via the desktop. Office 365 is a cloud-based subscription to a suite of programs including Office 2016. 

Is the software available for MAC computers?  

Yes.  The installation will detect the difference. 

How many computers are eligible for the software download? 

Microsoft Office Pro Plus can be installed on up to 5 computers and 5 mobile devices.  To use the software on a seventh computer, it is necessary to deactivate the installation on one of the current use of computers. 

Where is the product key?  

There isn't one.  After the NCCU software purchase, you will receive an e-mail that contains the necessary NCCU user ID (not your Banner ID) and a link to retrieve the program. 

I completed my initial download and I am not sure how to get back to download the software on my additional devices, where do I go?

  1. Visit the Software Repository in myEOL to access the Microsoft Office software.
  2. Locate Office 365 and click the "Download" button.
  3. Click on the "Install Office" button.
  4. Select the first install option and double-click the Office setup file
  5. Click "Yes" when prompted
  6. Once Microsoft Office finishes installing click "Close."

Note: The portal detects what type of device you are using and knows which version of the software to install on your machine (i.e. PC, Mac, smartphone, iPad, etc.) If you have any further questions regarding the installation, please contact the Eagle Technical Assistance Center (ETAC) at 530-7676.

Are the Microsoft Office applications the same for PC and Mac?

Can I uninstall Microsoft Office 365? 


How do I uninstall on a PC? 

  1. Access Control Panel
  2. Select Programs and Features
  3. Locate and select Microsoft Office Program
  4. Select Uninstall
  5. Select Yes to allow changes
  6. Reboot PC​​​​​

How do I uninstall on a Mac?

  1. Exit all programs
  2. Open the applications folder from the hard disk icon
  3. Drag the icon to the trash
  4. Empty the trash
