What is Banner 9?

Banner 9 is an enterprise resource planning (ERP) system used by North Carolina Central University. The Banner platform supports both the academic and business-related aspects of running the University. Through Banner, students, faculty and staff Eagles are able to carry out many tasks such as registering for classes, submitting final grades, learning of financial award status, and submitting timesheets.

Will I be able to use Banner 8 after Banner 9 is fully launched?

No, you will not be able to use Banner 8 once Banner 9 is fully launched.  Students, faculty and staff will have to use either Student Self-Service (Banner 9), Faculty Self-Service (Banner 9) or Staff Self-Service (Banner 9).

How do I access Banner 9 as a student, faculty member or staff?

You can access Banner 9 through the myEOL web portal. Go to www.nccu.edu and then click on myEOL in the top right corner. All the Banner 9 SSB links are available in a drop-down menu when you click on the "Banner SSB 9"  button in the "Administrative & Academic Services" section.

How do I use Banner 9 as a student?

Click on the Banner SSB 9 button and select “Student Self-Service” from the drop-down menu. The Banner “Student Self-Service” portal is your go-to spot to complete registration, view your schedule, check your financial account information, and review additional student records.

Where do I register for classes?

"Student Registration" allows you to view classes for current and upcoming semesters, which can help in planning your course of study.

Where do I search for classes?

If you want to only search for past, current and future classes, "Class Search" provides you with that option.

How do I use Banner 9 as a faculty member?

Through the “Faculty Self-Service” portal, you are able to track attendance and submit grades of students within your classes.

To access Faculty Self-Service:

  1. Log into MyEOL using your user name and password.
  2. Click the “Faculty Self-Service (SSB 9)” button on your myEOL page.

How do I use Banner 9 as a staff member?

Click on the Banner SSB 9 link and select the “Employee Self-Service” option from the drop-down menu.  Within the “Employee Self-Service” portal, you are able to complete and submit time sheets and store personal information.

I am a new staff or faculty member. How do I get started with Banner 9?

Employment with NCCU does not automatically mean that you have access to Banner 9. As a new staff or faculty member, your department must request access by submitting the following form found at the link below:

What are the additional modules available through Banner 9?

Communication Management (SSB 9) allows assigned users to use templates for mass-generated notifications using data housed within Banner 9.

Finance Self-Service (SSB 9) contains the financial, accounting and budget data for the university. It allows financial officers and administrators to manage their departments’ and areas’ budgets.

Which web browsers work best with Banner 9?

It is recommended that you use Google Chrome.

May I personalize my Banner 9 dashboard’s appearance?

No, The creators of Banner 9, Ellucian, have removed this feature.

What should I do if I receive a “Service Invocation Failed” message?

  1. Sign Out of Banner 9 by clicking the arrow ->.
  2. Close out the browser window.
  3. Log back into Banner 9.

My department requested that I have Banner 9 access, and I received an “Invalid Username/Password” message. Now what?

  1. Contact the HelpDesk at 919-530-7676.
  2. If there is a technical issue, you will be advised to submit a ticket using the link below:

I received a 403 Forbidden message after logging into Banner 9. Does this mean that Banner 9 is down?

No, it does not necessarily mean that Banner 9 is down. The message means you were logged in and may not have signed out of the Banner 9 portal. In other words, Banner 9 (Self-Service Banner) will automatically time out to protect your data.

To fix this, please clear your web browser’s (Google Chrome) cache.

  1. On your computer/laptop, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click "More."
  3. Click "More tools" and choose "clear browsing data."
  4. At the top, choose a time range. To delete everything, select "All time."
  5. Next to "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files," check the boxes.
  6. Click "Clear data."
