The Office of Human Resources (OHR) training program is designed to create a service culture that supports North Carolina Central University’s (NCCU) commitment to providing quality service to all of its workforce. The department provides consultation with leadership throughout campus to determine the requirements and expectations of each course or workshop. After consultation, training modules will be customized or designed and delivered to accommodate leadership's expressed needs. NCCU Listens

The Office of Human Resources Training, Organizational Development & Engagement promotes a service-focused culture aligned with North Carolina Central University’s commitment to quality service. Through campus-wide consultation, HR Training develops courses and workshops that support service excellence. The “Spotlight on Excellence in Customer Service Award” recognizes employees who consistently go above and beyond, based on NCCU Listens submissions and established evaluation criteria.

NCCU Management Development Institute (MDI)

The North Carolina Central University (NCCU) Management Development Institute (MDI) is designed to provide management and leadership skills for new mid-level managers and those promoted and/or hired into mid-level management positions. In addition, those who manage major projects that impact campus-wide are eligible. Participants will learn to lead, coach, and be an integral part of their work team while defining roles, objectives, and responsibilities. The MDI program will build a more efficient, effective, and highly motivated team that enhances excellence and improves employee morale. The interactive program includes self-assessments, small group case study discussions, role-plays, and a review of NCCU policies, procedures and practices as well as professional development skill enhancement. The program is offered each semester one day per week for five – six weeks on Wednesdays (unless otherwise noted). The program is mandatory and invitation only.

Training Request

University Leadership Education and Development (ULEAD)

The ULEAD program develops highly skilled and motivated leaders to meet the challenges of higher education’s changing environment. Participants learn from world-renowned faculty, outside experts and each other.
This comprehensive program addresses the core characteristics and skills needed to lead effectively in an academic environment and includes:
Projects expected to produce practical and actionable outcomes for UNC-Chapel Hill and NC Central University.
Application process is in the fall and ULEAD program is typically July – September of the upcoming year.
